National Outdoor Leadership School
The National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, Wyoming takes people of all ages on remote wilderness expeditions, teaching technical outdoor skills, leadership and ethics in ways that cannot be learned in the classroom or on the street. It was founded in 1965 by legendary mountaineer Paul Petzoldt, who wanted to help people learn to care about and protect the wilderness. Today NOLS runs leadership training courses from 14 locations worldwide and has over 120,000 graduates. An $8,000 grant from the Roy A. Hunt Foundation was awarded toward the NOLS scholarship fund. www.nols.edu
